Sunset on the highway

Leo over at zenhabits wrote a post last week about the simple life and that got me thinking about what I would put on my list. One choice is easy.

I’m a sucker for sunsets, always have been. No surprises then about the banner for this blog. As a student photographer in High School it’s the one thing I always gravitated to. Driving home the other night the sun had already set on the horizon. There were some clouds about and so the colours produced were ever changing and breathtaking. As I kept one eye on the road and one on the sky I tried in vain to capture the kids attention in the back seat so they too could enjoy the moment.

Alas they could not have been less aware, more content in fact to argue (discuss?) the merits of this and that Company of Heroes strategy (don’t you know? – it’s a computer game!). Anyway, I had two or so more minutes of enjoyment before I could no longer catch a glimpse and indeed the traffic had gotten heavier so I was focused entirely on the road. What a great way to end the working day though……

Have you seen a sunset recently that had you captivated?

  1. I have a friend that worked on City of Empires and is now working on Halo Wars. I am not a gamer but my som is a big WOW fan.

I love colorful sunsets. They are a spiritual experience. I am tltally mezmerize by the beauty in nature. I’m a science teacher, a right brained sceince teacher.

A couple of months ago I went on a retreat and was out in the country. It was beautiful. I walked out to the lake both nights I was there and laid on the shoreline and stared at the stars. It took my breathe away.

  2. We often go outside here at night and simply marvel at all the stars we can see (and passing satellites!). There are no street lights and no other homes close by – only the glow of the city on the horizon. It’s always breathtaking. One of the joys of living where we do…

  3. I think I would pass out it I was exposed to that beauty!!! Maybe one day….. :O)
